OPPURTUNISTS looking to break into cars have been trying their luck in Bournemouth as one man has been caught multiple times on camera.
CCTV shows a man, dressed in a jacket and dark trousers, attempting to open a parked car’s door in Hankinson Road, Winton, in the early hours of the morning.
Winton resident Juliet Canning said it 'annoys her that people think they can do this' after the same man attempted to break into her car on three separate occasions.
She said: “We got a camera installed because it happens so often. In the last two weeks we caught the same guy three times walking along the road, trying the car doors, coming onto our drive, trying to get into our car and then he walks off.
“It’s very common to happen in this part of Winton. I’ve also got footage of people walking onto the drive and seeing the camera.

“Mine has sound on it and I heard them acknowledge the cameras and then leave.
“People have also taken to social media to post their pictures of the same guy who is obviously doing the rounds, trying all the door handles.
“You only need to look at the Winton Facebook page and everyday somebody posts images of people trying to break into their cars.”
Juliet said the incidents are happening from just past midnight until around 4am to 5am.
“We reported it to the police, and we have HD cameras, but I haven’t heard anything back from the police at all,” she added.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 4.14pm on Tuesday 1 November 2022 of an attempted break-in to a vehicle in Hankinson Road in Bournemouth.
“It was reported that a man had tried to gain entry to the vehicle at around 3am that morning and was also seen trying door handles of other vehicles in the road.
“Enquiries into the matter are ongoing. No arrest have been made at this time.”
Earlier this month we reported on a ‘lone man’ attempting to break into cars in Creekmoor, Poole, across several streets during one night.
No arrests were made for the multiple incidents.
