A bumper entry of floats and a feast of family entertainment made 1987’s Somerford Carnival an outstanding success.
Organisers were able to donate more than £1,000 to local charities with hundreds of pounds collected by individual stalls.
Around 1,300 people turned out to enjoy the event.
Displays on the recreation ground were given by Poole Street Band, the Somerford Sound and the Wolf Guard.
Winners of the best float award were the Royal British Legion.
Runners up where Somerford United Reformed Church while the Home Guard Social Club came third.
