MAJOR delays are expected in Christchurch once again as emergency roadworks have been installed along the A35.
It is expected it will take a number of weeks for Wessex Water to repair a damaged sewer pipe on the Christchurch bypass, with work lasting until December.
Two lanes will be closed along the busy road, including both the right-hand lanes on both the northbound and southbound carriageways, between the Purewell Cross and Fountain roundabouts from 7pm on Monday, November 21.
A Wessex Water spokesman said: “We’re sorry for any traffic delays that will be caused and would urge motorists to use alternative routes where possible.

“Unfortunately we have had to close one lane on each carriageway to carry out the repairs and so we’re able to maintain customers’ sewerage services.”
Cllr Mike Cox, ward councillor for Christchurch Town, said: “Christchurch seems to be plagued at the moment with roads being dug up left, right and centre and with little thought given to the businesses which are being affected by them.”
The news comes as it has been revealed the Avon Causeway is scheduled to close for one day later this week.
The busy road will be shut from 9am on Thursday, November 24, to allow BCP Council contractors to carry out a programme of work.
BCP Council say the work will include the cutting of overhanging vegetation, verge strimming, litter collection, remarking of existing road markings, carriageway repair works, gully cleaning, signage replacement and inspections/repair works to a number of smaller bridges which cross streams.
The local authority said a seven-mile diversion route will be in place via Ringwood Road, Salisbury Road, Stony Lane, Christchurch By-Pass, Fountain Way, Bargates, Fairmile Road, Hurn Road and Christchurch Road.
The council has written to residents and businesses in Avon Causeway who will be affected by the work.
