These pictures, taken from old postcards, show Ringwood as it was many years ago.
Ringwood was founded in the Anglo-Saxon period, a settlement on the River Avon.
The first mentions of its existence date back to 961 when King Edgar gave 2,640 acres of land to Abingdon Abbey.

In 1086, according to the Domesday Book, there were 56 villagers, 21 smallholders, eight slaves, and one riding man.
Although very different and more densely populated these days, Ringwood has retained its old-school charm with its small market town feel.
