A man was injured after a disturbance in West Howe on Wednesday morning.
Officers were called to Frost Road around 8.30am after reports of a disturbance, a spokesperson for Dorset Police said.
They added: "It is reported that a man was assaulted during the incident and sustained injuries to his head.
"Officers attended, with the ambulance service, and are carrying out searches of the area in a bid to locate those involved."
The police helicopter has been reported above areas in Branksome and Rossmore.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 09.04hrs to an incident in Bournemouth. We sent a double-crewed land ambulance and conveyed one patient to Poole Hospital.”
