A SALON in Christchurch has teamed up with Christchurch food bank to help provide gifts after seeing a young boy's Christmas list of a biscuit and a hat.
Christmas might look a lot different in many households this year, as families struggle to afford their usual celebration.
To assist families in need this Christmas, Lucy's salon in Christchurch has partnered with the Christchurch Food Bank.
The idea started after a member of staff from Lucy's salon saw a Christmas list from a young boy asking for only a hat and a biscuit.
Upon seeing this, they decided they wanted to try to help those struggling by giving children special memories of waking up on Christmas morning with gifts under the tree.

The salon then set up a public Facebook group called ‘helping provide Christmas gifts for struggling families'.
They also will have a cash donation box in the salon, along with toys that will be kept in one of the salon's rooms.
They are encouraging people to help by donating new toys and games and food before December 1.
