WIMBORNE Minster held its lights switch-on this weekend in the town centre, with hot food and carol singers giving residents something to cheer about.
Residents gathered in the town centre, getting in the spirit of Christmas as the start of festivities in Wimborne Minster began with the switching on of the town Christmas lights.
Starting from 11am on Saturday, November 26, people came down to enjoy entertainment from Dorset Youth Marching Band, Jaimie Jambo, Susie Kimber, Soul Party, Blue Moon Boys, Big Night Out and Love Soul Choir.
The lights came on at 4:30, before the headliner, and the militia fired on display at 5:30pm at Minster Green.
Chris Brown Wimbourne's Town Crier said: "It's been really enjoyable, with loads of interesting groups have been playing and singing.

"It's nice to get all the community choirs out and see everyone enjoy their music dancing and singing along.
"Everybody is getting into that festive spirit!"
Louise Harrison, Wimbourne's town Clark said: "We've got a lot of local groups that have come and sung for us and our local band called The Quarterjacks.
"Our town major will also be here to give out the volunteer of the year award.
"We will also be announcing who has won the Children's poster competition.
"Then the Christmas light will come on which I'm really looking forward to.

"And then we will finish the day with a nice bang over on the Minister Green.
"This has been going on regularly for so many years but obviously there was a lull because of Covid so it's nice to be back in full swing.
"Today is going really well so far, it's lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves with a smile on their faces and singing along and dancing and it's people of all ages that have come down, it's great to see."
