A MAN died after being pulled from a river in Dorset on Sunday night.
Police, firefighters and ambulance service were called to concerns for a man in the river at The Quay in Wareham shortly before 7pm.
The man was pulled from the river but was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Enquiries are being carried out to locate his next of kin and the coroner has been notified.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police received a report at 6.53pm on Sunday 27 November 2022 raising concern for the welfare of a man in the river at The Quay in Wareham.
“Officers attended with the fire and ambulance services.
“Very sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious.
"Enquiries are being carried out to locate his next of kin and the coroner has been notified."
A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called to Abbots Quay, Wareham at approx. 7pm yesterday evening to reports of a male casualty in the river.
“Firefighters from Wareham, alongside Tech Rescue teams from Poole and Weymouth, attended and worked with colleagues from Dorset Police to locate the casualty and bring him ashore.
“Firefighters were able to provide casualty care until colleagues from South West Ambulance Service arrived.
“The stop message was at 8.03pm.”
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 19:40hrs on Sunday 27 November to an incident in Wareham.
"We sent two air ambulances, two double-crewed land ambulances, a critical care car and an operations officer.”
