The construction of a new sports hall at Poole Grammar School has reached an important milestone, with the completion of the steel frame this month.
The completion of the frame was marked by the headteacher, Dr Amanda Smith, tightening the final bolt, in front of representatives from the school and companies involved in the project.
Groundworks began in October, with work on the frame beginning at the start of November. The build progresses on to the next stage ahead of its planned completion in August 2023.
The school was awarded £3.8million in July 2021 as a part of a government grant, to replace their old sports hall, which dated back to the 1960s.
The completed sports hall will feature a range of state-of-the-art facilities. It will include badminton, basketball, volleyball and netball courts, indoor cricket nets, a fitness suite and changing room facilities. There are plans for an indoor climbing wall and trampolines at a later date.
