The O2 Academy in Bournemouth is on a bit of a roll at the moment with some excellent bands and two sold out gigs on consecutive nights.
Tonight, it was the turn of James Bay who is currently touring Europe and the UK in support of his latest album LEAP.
As it turns out we were doubly lucky as James felt pretty rough during this show but battled through, unfortunately he has had to postpone the next couple of nights of this tour.
Showing no sign of feeling unwell James flew on to the stage for a hectic version of Best Fake Smile and continued at a similar pace for Endless Summer Nights and Give Me the Reason.
Dressed in his trademark hat, jacket and jeans with guitar in hand, he delivered a set of songs from throughout his career that went down a storm with the packed venue.
The stage set up was both simple and effective, perfectly complimenting the music and feel of the evening.
The crowd were just as vocal as James on many of the tracks with parts of the gig feeling as though there were hundreds in the band not just James and the incredible musicians on the stage with him.
Silent Love, Fade Out and Pink Lemonade led to the final song of the main set Craving.
After a short break it was time for a very short encore of Hold Back the River before James left to rapturous applause.
For someone feeling under the weather this was a great night.
