A Bournemouth establishment has been named as the 'Seaside hotel of the year' as part of The Times and The Sunday Times' Best Places to Stay list for 2023.

The Nici in West Cliff won that accolade along with being included as one of the 100 best places to stay in the UK.

Overall the guide is split into eight regions, with The Times basing their ranking on the "essentials of comfort, great service and value, as well as personality and warmth".

Claire Irvin, Head of Travel at The Times and The Sunday Times said of the list: “Best Places to Stay 2023 is a celebration of the incredible properties we have here on home soil and, most importantly, the hard-working teams that have made each one of them such a singular success.

"Our recommendations are not easily won and all 100 hotels in this year's list – particularly The Retreat at Elcot, our deserving overall winner – should be extremely proud of the guest experience they've created.”

The Nici was only opened in July of this year but has already won acclaim, including being named among the 10 best new hotels for this year by The Guardian.

Formerly the Savoy Hotel the site was transformed into The Nici following a £27m investment.

In total, the hotel contains 73 bedrooms, including 10 garden suites with outdoor hot tubs, a vibrant bar and a restaurant.

Alongside that, the site has an extended outdoor terrace, meeting and event spaces and a garden and pool, with private poolside cabanas.
