A group of people on mopeds smashed a truck window and bent the door, grabbing a bag before they fled.
The vehicle belonging to Nathan Lowe was parked in Canford Heath in Poole on Tuesday November 29 when the incident took place.
The offenders broke in just before midnight while the truck was parked up for the night in Portesham Way.
Nathan Lowe, the owner of the vehicle, said that the group used a crowbar or some sort of tool, to smash the window in, bending the door in the process.
“There was a spate of break ins around Canford Heath and Waterloo,” Mr Lowe said. “Two mopeds, three up; they were going around smashing windows and taking whatever they could grab.”
He said that only a bag was stolen from the vehicle, which contained some tools. He lost some torches that were in the bag, with the total of what was stolen coming to around £300-£400.
Fortunately, the individuals did not attempt to break into Mr Lowe’s work van.
“My work van was parked in front of it, which they didn’t touch, luckily!” he said.
Images of the break-in were captured on Mr Lowe's Ring camera.
A Dorset police spokesperson said: “We received a report of a theft from a vehicle that was parked in Portesham Way in Poole at around 11.40pm on Tuesday 29 November 2022. It was reported that a quantity of tools had been stolen.
“It was further reported that two mopeds carrying three people were seen in the area around the time of the incident.
“Enquiries into the matter are ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.”
Last month, the Daily Echo reported that there had been instances of individuals attempting to break into other vehicles, in incidents not related to this.
Early in November, a ‘lone man’ was spotted trying to find unlocked cars in the early hours of the morning in Creekmoor.
Later in the month, another individual was seen trying to do the same to cars in Winton. At the time, police indicated that the investigation into both incidents were ongoing.
