THE Met Office has warned that temperatures are going to drop this weekend and into next week.
Weather experts have warned of northerly winds kicking in across the county, bringing cold air and potentially snow, sleet or rain showers.
A Met Office spokesperson said it is likely to remain cold throughout December with some wintriness possible.
Explaining their forecast for the area, senior operational meteorologist, Alex Burkill said: “Temperatures are going to drop this weekend and into next week as our winds go round to more of an easterly direction, and then northerly which will bring colder air to all parts.
“Dorset can expect an often dry spell with just a little drizzly rain before some heavier rain is likely during the middle of next week.
“Wintry weather is then going to feed into northern parts of the UK but it is unlikely to reach as far south as Dorset.
“That being said, some models are hinting that a few wintry (snow/sleet/rain) showers could reach you the following weekend (10 and 11), most likely over higher ground in the north of the county.
“Christmas is still far away, but the same kind of weather looks set to continue through the rest of December. As such it is likely to remain cold with some wintriness possible. Whilst this is unlikely for Dorset, it cannot be ruled out.”
