Buckets and spades were swapped for gruelling exercise and dogged determination when an army assault course and three-mile run took place on Bournemouth’s beach.
More than 1,000 people of all ages took part in the sponsored 2CR FM Heartbeat Challenge on October 4, 1992.
The event, held between Bournemouth and Boscombe piers, raised £25,000 for the Royal Bournemouth Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre.
The total was £5,000 more than the previous year’s effort and participants were watched by an estimated 20,000 people.
