THOUSANDS of people in Bournemouth have been left puzzled by a mysterious orange glow coming from the sky at night.
The glow, which can be seen as far as from the A31 through the New Forest, has been blanketing parts of the skies every night since the weekend.
It is believed the glow has been caused by the stadium lights at AFC Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium in Boscombe.
The glow from the lights, which have been in the stadium for 10 years, is believed to have been enhanced by the recent fog.
One man said: “It’s UV lights that shine down on the pitch to promote growth when it’s cold and damp. The reflection is due to water droplets on a cold night.”
A picture of a UV light trolley was sent in by a member of the Echo's Dorset Camera Club Facebook page.

One person said: “Mystery to orange/yellow glow over Muscliff/Throop over last few nights. Not sure what it is.”
They said it appeared “odd” as it was in one area and the rest of the sky remained dark.
One person added: “We assumed it was coming from the football stadium.”
Another person said: “I was going to blame the Christmas Wonderland.”
Another person, confident of their answer, said: “Yep, it’s coming from the stadium.
“There’s white sheets covering the pitch so probably reflecting off the artificial daylight lamps.”
This was echoed by another reader who said: "It is deffo coming from AFCB ground... I actually drove down there last night, and they have all of their orange / sodium crowd lighting on for some reason, and this is causing a very bright reflection from the pitch covers."
Others have reported seeing the lights in areas such as Charminster, Northbourne, Fairmile, Southbourne and Castlepoint.
