SLEET or snow showers could be seen in Dorset tomorrow, a weather enthusiast has said.
Dorset snow has issued his wintry watch which is valid between 1pm and 9pm on Saturday.
His forecast for tomorrow says: “Saturday will bring the first wintry shower risk of the season as a more unstable air flow establishes itself across southern England.
“The first batch of showers is expected to move in from the Bristol Channel just after midday and affect parts of East Devon, Somerset and West Dorset.
“There is some uncertainty as to how far inland these showers will make it. Later in the afternoon, a more organised area of sleet or snow will track across the English Channel. “This precipitation may fall as sleet for immediate coastal areas and there is also some uncertainty as to how far inland this will push. There is the chance that some areas see a dusting of snow in the heaviest bursts.”
He summarised: “Wintry showers will push in from the North West during the early afternoon, before a more organised area of precipitation tracks west to east along coastal stretches during the late afternoon/evening.”
A Level 3 Cold Weather Alert has been issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) covering all of England and is currently in place until Friday, December 16.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Steve Willington, said: “It is staying cold with daytime temperatures remaining only a few degrees above freezing in many places over the coming days and overnight temperatures dropping to -10°C or lower in isolated spots. Although below average, these temperatures are not that unusual for this time of year.
“There is still a risk we could see some freezing fog in places particularly southern England, especially for Sunday and Monday mornings. And there is also a small risk of a band of sleet or snow moving into the far Southeast on Sunday. If this happens it could potentially bring some disruption, especially to rush hour on Monday. A warning has been issued.”
The Met Office is predicting snow in Shaftesbury at midday on Sunday.
