A LICENSING application has been submitted to BCP Council for the new McDonald’s in Christchurch.
The fast-food giant has applied to operate from the former Pizza Hut unit in Barrack Retail Park.
According to the application, McDonald’s have also requested to serve late night refreshments between 11pm and 5am Monday to Sunday.
Last month, the company said its plans for the new restaurant and drive-thru were “progressing” and they hoped to open in February 2023.
They have since commented it could be early February, but an official opening date is yet to be announced.
The application for the new McDonald’s was submitted by retail park owner St James Place Trust and approved by BCP Council’s planning committee in September last year.
The former Pizza Hut unit, its proposed site, was demolished in August this year.
McDonald's had planned to open over the summer, but this was delayed.
Once built, it'll be the second of the fast-food chain in Christchurch.
Work is ongoing on the site and the McDonald's building is starting to take shape.
