JANUARY will be milder than average and unsettled during the first half of the month, a Bournemouth weather enthusiast has said.

Dorset Snow has given his outlook for the month and said the best chance of a colder spell will be around the middle of the month.

He said: “A rather unsettled start to January with plenty of blustery and showery conditions on offer. The odd dry day during week one, but turning wet again by 7th/8th.

“A fairly strong jet stream will continue to drift towards the south of the UK during week two and this is expected to bring further areas of low pressure from the west.”

Dorset Snow said there will be “plenty more” wet, windy and mild weather from January 9 to 15.

He said the best chance of anything colder will be during the middle of the month when occasional Atlantic ridges may develop.

He continued: “This has potential to deliver one or two day snaps of colder air from the north.

“Towards the end of the month there is an indication that things may turn more settled.

“The general consensus is that temperatures will remain above average for large parts of January.”
