One campsite in Dorset, and two in Hampshire, have been named in the top 20 best campsites to boost your mental wellbeing in 2023.
Hobby Farm in Bridport, Brocklands Farm in Petersfield and Andark Lake in Southampton made the list, compiled after research by camping site Pitchup.com.
With January being cited as one of the gloomiest months of the year, research has shown that viewing natural scenery can improve mood and reduce stress.
A recent survey by Specialised Covers showed that one third of Brits felt that camping or caravanning had a very positive impact on their mental health.
As a result, Pitchup.com analysed over 30,000 reviews on its site, compiling a list of campsites which featured the most positive reviews with words linked to improved mental health and wellbeing.
Dan Yates, founder of Pitchup said: “There is plenty of research out there which shows a direct correlation between getting outside during daylight hours and state of mind. Being outside is not only good for our physical health but also for our mental health.
“So many reviews on our website reference how positive and peaceful their stay made them feel, which is testament to the impact this kind of holiday can have.”
