A MAN who supplied MDMA, cocaine and other drugs on the streets of Bournemouth town centre has been jailed.
David George Hinchey, 40 and of Bournemouth, was jailed for 12 months at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, January 6, for offences of being concerned in the supply of MDMA, cocaine and cannabis.
On Friday, June 25, 2021, Hinchey was seen by officers acting suspiciously near to the Lower Gardens. Following a search, he was found in possession of a mobile phone, which was subsequently seized.
A few weeks later, on Tuesday July 13, an officer was on patrol in the town centre when he spotted Hinchey acting suspiciously again in the Lower Gardens.
Hinchey was detained for a search nearby and was found to be in possession of a number of small wraps of suspected class A drugs. He was subsequently arrested.
An examination of Hinchey’s mobile phones identified evidence that they were being used for the supply of class A and class B drugs.
Following Hinchey’s conviction, police constable Stuart Grant of the Bournemouth South Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We recognise the impact the supply of drugs has on our communities and the concern it causes for residents. Therefore, we are committed to doing all we can to disrupt the activity of those involved in supplying drugs.
“Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team regularly carry out patrols in the Lower Gardens and will act upon anyone seen to be acting suspiciously.
“We will continue to take action against drug dealers such as David Hinchey and we would urge members of the public with information about drug related activity in their area to please report it to us at www.dorset.police.uk, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101.”
