A FIRE has broken out on the roof of a community hall building in West Parley.
Several fire crews have rushed to West Parley Memorial Hall in Christchurch Road following reports of a fire on the roof, with heavy smoke seen billowing from the building.
A spokesperson from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to a community building on Christchurch Road, West Parley, at 3.25pm this afternoon for a fire in the roof.
“We currently have crews in attendance from Ferndown, Redhill Park, Westbourne and Poole, and four breathing apparatus wearers are using two main jets and two hose reel jets to fight the fire.
“The aerial ladder platform from Westbourne has been requested as well.”
Dorset Police said while it was made aware of the incident by the fire service, its officers were not required at the time.
Residents reported Christchurch Road was partially closed eastbound towards Bournemouth Airport while emergency personnel dealt with the blaze.
The fire service said its call to stop came in at 5.23pm, but no cause of the fire was yet known.
