FINES were issued to a man for a disability hate crime and to a woman for a racially aggravated offence at a Poole supermarket.
Luke James Neil Cooper, aged 36, appeared in the dock at Poole Magistrates’ Court in relation to his conduct at Aldi in Pitwines Close on May 9 last year.
Cooper admitted with intent to cause a woman harassment, alarm or distress, using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour, thereby causing that person or another harassment, alarm or distress.
The court found that the offence was motivated by hostility towards persons who have a disability of a particular disability.
Rebecca Louise Travers, aged 38, admitted with intent, using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour to cause the same complainant or another person harassment, alarm or distress and the offence was racially aggravated.
Both defendants also admitted stealing meat and other goods from the store.
Cooper, whose address was given as Ringwood Road, Poole, was fined £100 and ordered to pay a £34 surcharge and £85 costs.
Travers, also of Ringwood Road, Poole, was fined £120 and ordered to pay £100 compensation.
