WHAT a wonderful site it is to behold – the beautifully coloured cycle lanes along Wallisdown Road. But wait a minute where are the cycles?
Cannot our counsellors see the aspirational folly that this has become, the cost of it must be astronomical.
What is it they hope to achieve by this, because never in a million years are you going to see hundreds of cyclists using the cycle lanes – this is not Holland by any stretch of the imagination.
Whilst it seems that the funding for this is provided by the government, have councillors not got the courage to point out this money would be better spent elsewhere, for example the NHS.
This seems like so many situations nowadays that suffer from the ‘emperors’ clothes’ moment, whereby no one will stand up and say how ridiculous it all is.
I challenge counsellors to stand alongside the cycle lanes and see if they can spot anyone using them.
In all seriousness though can any of our counsellors or local MPs stand up and say this is money well spent, no I thought not.
