A WOMAN has died following a crash involving a mobility scooter and a motorbike in Highcliffe.

The rider of the scooter, a woman aged in her 90s, sustained very serious injuries and died at the scene of the collision, which took place at around 11am on Monday, January 30.

Dorset Police received a report of a crash in Hoburne Lane at the junction with Primrose Way.

The force said the woman’s family had been informed.

The male rider of the black Triumph bike involved was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said road closures remained in place between Primrose Way and Highcliffe Road while emergency services were at the scene.

Police Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who sadly died in this collision.

“I am conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances and would ask any witnesses, or motorists who may have captured either the mobility scooter or the motorbike on dashcam footage prior to the collision, to please come forward.

“Also, I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures are in place. These are necessary to allow us to carry out a thorough examination of the scene.”
