THE future of Ringwood Raceway is currently in the hands of the council, as decision day on a planning application approaches later this year.
Developers are hoping to demolish the banger racing circuit Matchams Lane and build a new ‘retirement community’.
The scheme, which has received a wave of objections from motor racing fans across the country, is currently under officer consideration.
A spokesperson for Dorset Council said: “The application is currently under officer consideration.

“The timetable for a decision is dependent on what information the applicant comes back with. We are expecting more information from them soon.”
Inspired Villages’ proposal for the site could see up to 330 age-restricted apartments and cottages, plus communal and care facilities, as well as a 60-bed care home.
Racing fans, who can still enjoy races at the well-established track, came together in their thousands to object to the plans.
One local fan said: “It is absolutely disgusting to allow the last of the south's only motorsport venue to be closed and built on.”
Another added: “We have been going here for years and is a place that holds many memories for me and my family.”
