Two teenagers have admitted repeatedly punching and kicking a boy in a vicious attack that left their victim in hospital with a fractured jaw.
The teenagers, who can’t be named due to their age, both pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm in a hearing before Dorset’s Youth Panel.
It follows an assault in Pageant Gardens, Sherborne, in July of last year.
The victim, a 13-year-old boy, was assaulted by a group of teenagers during the evening and was taken to hospital having sustained a fractured jaw and chipped tooth as well as cuts and bruises.
A 14-year-old boy from Sherborne admitted causing actual bodily harm and sending an offensive communication to the victim whilst a 14-year-old from Yeovil admitted a single charge of causing actual bodily harm.
Victoria Hill, prosecuting, said the victim was ‘punched and kicked’ by the two boys and had to be taken to Yeovil Hospital as a result for treatment to his injuries.
The panel was told that the victim had been at Pageant Gardens with friends when they were approached by the defendants.
One of the defendants then asked the victim if he knew martial arts and if he wanted a ‘tap-out’ - a term taken to mean a fight - the victim declined before threats were made to the victim and his friends.
It is said that insults were ‘exchanged’ between the groups before the victim told the defendants to ‘p**s off and leave us alone’: he was then ‘pushed backwards and punched in the face’.
Ms Hill said the victim was then repeatedly punched and kicked, before “an older group of teens, only a couple years older, ran over to split things up.”
The defendants were instructed to pay £50 in compensation to their victim and referred to youth offending panels for a period of six months.
