A DORSET charity is urging dog owners to register for the inaugural Muddy Dog Dash this March.

Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has launched the event, which will feature either a 2km or 4km obstacle course for runners, joggers and walkers to tackle, with or without a dog.

The muddy event will take place on Sunday, March 26 at Upton Country Park, and each participant and their dogs will be rewarded with a rosette and a certificate to mark their completion of the challenge.

Ruth Wright, area fundraiser at Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, said: “The course comprises of a picturesque but muddy route, which will take participants around the fields and woods at Upton Country Park.

“Along the course there will be various fun obstacles including ramps, muddy ditches, tyre runs, weave polls, ball pits, hurdles, wooden dog houses, tunnels and more.

“We will be rewarding each of the dogs who are deemed to be Muddiest Dog, Best Dressed/Fancy Dress and Top Dog Fundraiser with a Polygon Pets dog wash voucher.

“We look forward to seeing you and your furry friend there!”

Runners will set off in waves from 10.30am, and the charity are encouraging participants to raise £50 in sponsorship alongside their registration fee.
