A SWANAGE bakery that has undergone an Italy inspired transformation- The Italian Bakery is Trader of the Week.
Found in Institution Road, The Italian Bakery is the go-to destination for fresh breads, sourdoughs, pastries, sausage rolls, cakes, and sweet treats.
For years it had operated as Hayman’s bakery, well known in the town for its traditional bakes, but in April last year it was taken over by new owners.
Already running popular businesses in Wareham- The Italian Kitchen and The Italian Bakery- the new owners decided to rename Hayman’s as The Italian Bakery to fit in with their brand.
As part of the takeover, they also gave the bakery a refurbishment, seeing it transformed into an Italy-inspired hub, with increased capacity.
A spokesperson for The Italian Bakery said: “We’ve just finished the refurbishment of our Swanage shop, which is extremely important for us to showcase our quality food and standards, but also keep the Haymans' over 100-year-old traditions and provide continuity with some of the beautiful recipes back to the last century.

“With the extension we increased our capacity, and we are confidently supplying to our shops and more than 40 wholesale partners all over Purbeck.”
The Italian Bakery in Swanage prides itself on boasting talented bakers and pastry chefs, and producing goods that use the ‘best quality’ ingredients, and local produce where possible.
Their freshly baked sourdough is a popular choice for customers, and comes in multiple tasty flavours, including prune and walnut, Italian herb and olives, and chili and smoked cheddar.
But according to The Italian Bakery, it is not just the bakes that makes them special- it is also their customer service style.
The owners told the Daily Echo: “Our motto is ‘With Tradition & Passion. Handmade For You.’
"We believe in the ultimate customer journey, which needs quality and standards, but also necessary to create an environment for every single customer who visits us that they feel at home and welcomed.
“Every single customer is important for us, locals and regulars should be our fan base who spread the word of our products.”
