POLICE have issued an update on the teenage boy who was stabbed in West Howe and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition. 

The 14-year-old victim was allegedly stabbed by a 13-year-old boy in Mandale Road, Bournemouth, at around 7pm on Wednesday, February 22. 

The 13-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains in police custody. 

Providing an update on the victim, a Dorset Police spokesman said: “We can confirm the injured boy’s injuries are no longer believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.”

Police received a report on Wednesday evening of a boy being possibly stabbed in Mandale Road, West Howe, and officers located the victim in a front garden in nearby Gladdis Road with a single stab wound. 

A woman, who lives in Mandale Road and asked to remain anonymous, said: “All I saw was a big group of lads running after a lad who crouched in my drive behind my car and then ran off.” 

Conor Burns, MP for Bournemouth West, said: “My thoughts and prayers are with the young man who has been stabbed and his family that he has the strength to recover from his injuries.   

“To pause to reflect - 14 and 13 years old. Children. This shows the absolute need for a zero-tolerance approach to knives on our streets, education in our schools and frankly street policing in our communities.”
