FANCY dress pancake flipping fun was had by dozens in Christchurch for a returning race.

Christchurch Business Improvement District (BID) was at the helm of the 2023 Great Pancake Race organised for local businesses to come together and enjoy Shrove Tuesday.

Businesses arrived ready and raring, some in fancy dress, to compete in the team relay race at The Kings Arms Hotel Bowling Green.

The competitor line-up consisted of thirteen teams from across the community and Christchurch Town Council.

Cllr Avril Coulton, town mayor, also competed in the races alongside a team of fellow councillors. All teams competed in several heats before the grand final consisting of the heat winners – Frettens Solicitors, TC Filer Knapper and Pro2col.

Pro2col took the crown as champions, taking home a brass frying pan for 2023.

Christina Pengelly, BID manager, said: “We have a strong business community here in Christchurch all of which are happy to get involved and support each other as and when they can.

“We would like to thank The Kings Arms for hosting us so generously and The Captains Club Hotel for providing the key ingredient on the day – the pancakes for flipping.”

The other participants were: The Industry Hair Salon, Tony Hair Salon, Lovegrove Financial Solutions, Slades Estate Agents, The Captains Club, TC Filer Knapper, Taylor Made Designs, and Highcliffe Charity Players.

All money raised at the event will be donated to the Christchurch Food Festival Education Trust.
