AN ONLINE clothing brand opened its first physical store in Poole over the weekend.
Dorset-based Brakeburn, which sells women and men’s clothes, officially opened its first brick-and-mortar store in Poole’s KINGLAND over the weekend.
A brand born out of a passion for life outdoors, designing unique clothing and accessories influenced by Dorset beaches and the Purbeck hill, products sold include everyday fashion, accessories and practical items such as changing robes.
Nick Jackson, founder and managing director of Brakeburn, said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time for all of us at Brakeburn to be opening our first store and I’m delighted to be doing so in our hometown of Poole.
“Everything about Brakeburn stems from our love for coastal living, from our clothes to our values. It feels like the perfect time to ‘open up shop’ and I’m extremely proud of the team for all their hard work to help us achieve this milestone in our business journey.”

Brakeburn is located between Grounded Coffee and Greenslade Fish in Poole’s KINGLAND, a retail area which is owned by Legal & General Investment Management Real Assets (LGIM) and was launched in April 2021 as part of the Dolphin Centre’s reimagining.
The scheme aims to swim against the tide of a national decline in high streets and physical retail by offering independent business owners two years free rent and business rate.
John Grinnell, centre manager at The Dolphin, said: “It’s our pleasure to welcome Brakeburn to our diverse line-up of local, independent retailers at KINGLAND.
“The store is looking fresh and vibrant ready for spring, and I know shoppers will be looking forward to browsing the new range.

“As we enter KINGLAND’s second term, Brakeburn is one of four exciting new retailers joining the KINGLAND family and we’re really excited about this next chapter for the scheme.
“The regeneration of the town centre has been so well received by the community over the last three years and we’re predicting another successful year for all our retailers at The Dolphin.”
Three more shops will be opening in KINGKLAND this spring, including a furniture retailer founded by TV presenter Jay Blades of The Repair Shop fame.
