SNOW could cause travel disruption Dorset on Wednesday – with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning.

The alert will be in force for Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and the rest of Dorset from 12am until 11.59pm on Wednesday, March 8.

The Met Office said between 1cm and 2cm could be seen across the south west of England.

A spokesperson said: “Spells of snow reaching parts of southwest England late on Tuesday evening will then spread north during the early hours of Wednesday before clearing away eastwards during Wednesday daytime.”

In terms of what to expect, the Met Office said:

  • There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel
  • There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off
  • There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected
  • A small chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • There is a slight chance that bus and train services may be delayed or cancelled, with some road closures and longer journey times

An amber cold weather alert has also been issued warning of severe cold weather until midnight on Thursday, March 9.

As reported, Bournemouth-based forecaster Dorset Snow said there could be sleet or snow in parts of Dorset on Tuesday, March 7.
