DETECTIVES have appeared on an episode of Crimewatch after a “nasty assault” in Bournemouth left a man unconscious.
Officers continue to investigate a town centre assault in which a man aged in his 40s sustained a laceration to the top of the head and cuts and bruises from when he fell to the ground as he was knocked unconscious.
The incident, which happened in Commercial Road at night, saw the victim involved in an altercation with a group of around six men.
He went to walk away and was then chased by one of the men and struck from behind with what was believed to be a gas cannister.
Detective Constable Cameron Carter, of Bournemouth CID, appeared on BBC One’s Crimewatch Live on Tuesday, March 7 to make a televised appeal for the incident, which took place at around 11.30pm on Saturday, October 8 2022.
He said: “This was a nasty assault that left the victim with serious injuries, and we owe it to them to explore all lines of enquiry that are available to us.
“We have obtained CCTV images of a man we are keen to identify as part of our investigation and these were broadcast to a national television audience as part of our appeal.
“I would continue to urge anyone with information as to this man’s identity, or anybody with further information relating to this violent attack, to please come forward and contact us.”
