AN independent record shop selling vinyl and merchandise has welcomed customers after opening a second store.
Boiler Room Records officially opened its doors at the Kingland shopping complex in Poole on Monday, March 13, adding to its existing shop in the town’s high street.
Launching at Kingland with a well-attended evening event accompanied by live music, Boiler Room Records thanked the Poole community for its support and said the opening of a new store was “an easy decision”.
Mark Northey, owner of Boiler Room Records, said: “It is wonderful to finally have the second Boiler Room Records store open on such an engaging high street.
“The Poole community has been so supportive of our first storefront, making it an easy decision to expand to have a second offering in the heart of Kingland.
“We can’t wait to welcome shoppers through the doors in the coming weeks.”
Boiler Room Records has been buying and selling vinyl records in Poole for more than 30 years, starting out as a market stall in the old indoor market.
After 15 years of trading, the company moved into a bricks and mortar shop, which is still its current home today in Old Town.
The new store offers an expanded range of vinyl records and merchandise, focusing on new items, to complement its existing establishment, offering more choice to music enthusiasts. Live music events will take place throughout the summer, also featuring in-store DJ performances.
The shop opened on the same day as the much-anticipated Jay & Co store, a new furniture restoration shop by Jay Blades of BBC’s The Repair Shop. Mr Blades himself popped into Boiler Room Records on Monday to have a look around.
John Grinnell, centre manager at The Dolphin, said: “In this period of growth for Kingland, it is hugely exciting to see these two new retailers opening their doors on the same day.
“Welcoming Boiler Room Records’ second shopfront in Poole town centre is another massive success story.
“It highlights the ability of these much-loved local retailers to expand into the core of the community and utilise Kingland to further enhance their business and the shopping experience we provide here.”
The Dolphin currently has more than 80 retailers with more newcomers due to arrive in the coming months.
