A MOTORCYCLIST was injured in a crash with a car this morning in Christchurch and taken to hospital.

Officers were called to a crash involving a car and a motorbike at 7.42am on Monday, March 20 on the Christchurch Bypass, A35, eastbound at the Somerford Roundabout.

Police attended with the fire service and ambulance service and the rider of the bike sustained injuries that are not believed to life threatening or life changing, according to a police spokeswoman.

She added the local authority was made aware of the incident due to a fuel spillage on the road – the fire service helped clear that up.

A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A crew from Christchurch attended Christchurch Bypass to assist our Police colleagues with fuel spillage following an incident.

“The crew had left the scene by 10am.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 07.42hrs to a road traffic collision in the Christchurch area. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and conveyed one patient to Poole Hospital.”
