A REVIEW on the viability of installing protective wands to prevent drivers from illegally parking in a cycle lane is expected to be complete in a matter of weeks.
Boscombe councillors Andy Jones and George Farquhar have been pressing for action over the situation in Christchurch Road.
The ward members met at the location with transport portfolio holder Cllr Mike Greene to so he could witness the problem first hand.
As reported, this was seen as a productive exercise, however, Cllr Jones asked for an update on the situation at BCP Council’s full council meeting on March 21.
He asked if Cllr Greene could confirm whether wands would be installed and if so when given the “ongoing frustration with the volume of illegal parking in this area”.
Cllr Greene said: “Following the site meeting, which only took place a couple of weeks ago, I asked officers to investigate the practicalities and costs of segregating the mandatory part of the Christchurch Road cycle lane with wands.
“That review is currently taking place and the results, which I expect will come over the next few weeks, will be shared with ward members so they can feed into what action might be taken.”
