CASTLEPOINT is experiencing a “high level of interest” from prospective occupiers about moving into the shopping centre’s empty units.

Management are hopeful they will be able to share names of new confirmed signings soon for one of its empty units, which includes the former Dorothy Perkins, GAP and, following news earlier this week, NatWest from August 8.

David Pickett, centre manager of Castlepoint, said: “Castlepoint is experiencing a high level of interest from prospective occupiers, as one of the leading retail and leisure destinations in the south, so we hope to share names of new confirmed signings soon as we continue to enhance the Castlepoint experience for our valued shoppers and visitors and the wider Castlepoint community.”

NatWest recently announced it was to leave Castlepoint shopping centre in Bournemouth in the summer, as part of plans to close a number of branches across the country.

It said just 11 people regularly used the branch in 2021 – and just five used the Christchurch one which is also set to close in August.

Mr Pickett added: “We understand NatWest has chosen to close its branch at Castlepoint later this year as part of portfolio changes the bank is progressing nationally.

“At that time, Castlepoint will still offer cashpoint services at Barclays, Sainsbury’s, M&S and Asda, and NatWest will direct customers requiring its branch services to alternative locations.”

Although it has yet to be confirmed by Castlepoint or themselves, Nike is progressing well with a planning application to BCP Council in its bid to move into the former GAP outlet.

Permission has been granted to redesign the front of the shop, which will include the famous tick on a full glass wall.

Health and wellbeing brand Holland & Barrett opened one of its largest category outlets in the UK in early March, in the old Mountain Warehouse unit.

Meanwhile Mountain Warehouse, which is still there, moved into another unit making it the brand's largest shop in the UK.

The new shop features a consultation room which allows customers to speak with a qualified-to-advise associate to seek advice on their wellness.
