A LIFEBOAT was launched in Poole waters after ‘cries for help’ were heard on Friday evening.

RNLI crews responded to reports of a person in the water, on April 7, with calls for assistance having been heard along Poole Quay.

A search was conducted, but nothing was heard or found by the volunteers.

The Coastguard stood the lifeboat crew down when further information came through that the person was safe.

Earlier on Good Friday, the RNLI was called to a broken down 16ft Fletcher speedboat with one person on board.

They were tasked to conduct a welfare check and assist with the boat, which was at the end of a long rock groyne located between Knoll Beach and Shell Bay.

The crew checked that the person was okay and took the vessel undertow back to Rockley Point.
