STRONG winds of up to 50mph could bring disruption next week, the Met Office has warned.
A yellow weather warning has been issued for Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and the rest of Dorset.
The alert will be in place from 3pm on Tuesday, April 11, until 6am on Wednesday, April 12.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “After a brief lull in winds through the early hours of Wednesday, west or northwest winds are expected to increase once more during Wednesday morning, then remain strong for much of the day.
“Gusts of 40-50 mph are expected widely within the warning area, but some coastal areas, especially in parts of southwest Wales and Cornwall, could see gusts above 60 mph at times.
“Outbreaks of heavy rain or showers will accompany the strong winds.”
In terms of what to expect, the Met Office says some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.
High-sided vehicles could see delays on exposed routes and bridges.
Some short-term loss to power and other services are possible.
Some coastal routes, seafronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.
Currently, the Met Office forecast says Tuesday will be dry with sunny spells until lunchtime with heavy rain expected from 4pm onwards.
