Motorists were asked to avoid a main route through the New Forest on Saturday morning following a serious crash.
Emergency services were called to a report of the collision on the A31 westbound near to the Burley exit at Picket Post at 4.17am on Saturday, April 15.
One lane was closed from Picket Post services to the Hightown turning throughout the morning with police on the scene for some time.
Traffic reports suggested drivers faced queues stretching back towards Stoney Cross and delays of around 45 minutes with the inside lane of the carriageway closed.

In a statement issued at 11am, a Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokeswoman said: "We were called at 4.17am this morning (Saturday, April 15) to a report of a serious collision on the A31 westbound close to the Burley exit.
"We remain at the scene. Lane one of the westbound carriageway is currently closed from Picket Post services to the Hightown turning.
"We ask road users to avoid there area where possible."
