A MAN has been put behind bars for breaching a court order, assaulting police officers, stealing bikes and shoplifting alcohol.
Cameron Bhatt was in the dock at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 20, to be sentenced for a raft of offences committed between January last year and this month.
The 20-year-old admitted two counts of assaulting an emergency worker by beating and five counts of theft, as well as breaches of post sentence supervision and a criminal behaviour order.
Court papers stated he assaulted PC Newton and PC Rowland on January 15 last year in the area of Trigon Road, Poole.
On October 6 last year, he stole a man’s bicycle at McDonald’s on the Wessex Gate Retail Park in Poole and a woman’s pedal cycle from the nearby The Gym Group site in Nuffield Road.
Four days later he stole Bombay Sapphire Gin and Smirnoff Red Vodka from Asda in Canford Heath.
Bhatt shoplifted vodka from the shop again on April 15 while his most recent offence was breaching a criminal behaviour order on April 18 in Bournemouth by being with a child under the age of 16 unaccompanied by a parent, appropriate adult or professional.
The defendant, of no fixed abode, was committed to detention in a young offender institution for a total of 24 weeks.
Magistrates also ordered him to pay £100 compensation to the male bicycle theft victim and £50 compensation for the woman.
