Speaking at the inquest held on Friday, May 5, coroner’s officer Nigel Underwood said: “Ms Mansergh was having lunch with her family when she started to feel ill and became unresponsive.

“Paramedics attended and attempted CPR but sadly Ms Mansergh was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Police, who attended at around 4.30pm on the day of the death confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.

A postmortem, carried out by Dr Simon Rasbridge, found she had died of acute anaphylaxis (an allergic reaction) and clinically noted sesame seed allergy.

Following the death, the pub was closed for three days as a “mark of respect to the guest and their family”.

Anthony Woodhouse, chairman of Hall and Woodhouse which operates The Angel Inn, said after the death: “Our team is working closely with the authorities in their enquiries to understand how the terrible event occurred.”

Richard Middleton, the assistant coroner for Dorset, said the inquest will continue on December 8 later this year.
