Clear skies and sunshine brought communities together to toast to the King on an historic weekend.
After the damp day that greeted the coronation ceremony on Saturday, residents rejoiced in the improved weather on Sunday.
Wimborne was full of merriment and joy in and around the Square as residents came together to celebrate the crowning of King Charles III.
Tables lined town centre roads to allow families to come together and be part of the national Big Lunch effort.
The event, which was put together by Stir Events in partnership with Wimborne BID, featured live music, a bingo game show and a streaming of the Coronation Concert.
Organiser Mandy Polkey said: “We’re so lucky today with the weather. Celebrating such a special day and it’s shining on Wimborne.”
There was a buzz of activity at King George V Playing Fields in Ferndown for a family fun day of entertainment, food and live music.
Ferndown Town Council events manager Rachel-Elizabeth Hewitt said the day had gone “really well” and there had been a “really good turnout”.
Southbourne residents came together for a community street party organised by The Friends of Fisherman’s Walk.
Throughout the afternoon there was live entertainment on the bandstand with many people enjoying a dance and a picnic.
Chris Mayne, of Friends of Fisherman’s Walk, said: “It’s been a fabulous event, and what a great weekend all together.
“The crowds have been terrific here, and it’s been a lovely atmosphere.
“It’s hard work organising these events but it’s good fun when it all comes together.”
Across the county border in Ringwood, residents flocked to the Gathering on the Green at Bickerley.
The free event was laid on by Ringwood Town Council and other community groups.
Christine and Tony Whale said they made a whole day of the coronation celebrations on Saturday and they continued yesterday.
“Everybody’s coming together to celebrate a great occasion,” Tony said.
