A SPECIAL anniversary go-karting race is taking place near Bournemouth airport to celebrate 75 years of the Marie Curie charity.
The Marie Curie Poole Fundraising Group is encouraging speed fanatics to sign up in teams of four to secure their place in the race.
The event on July 6 marks 75 years since Marie Curie began providing end-of-life care in 1948.
Richard Ayres, Chair of the Poole group, said: “A lot of our volunteers in the group have first-hand experience of the type of support Marie Curie offers, others just want to help a much loved and needed charity.
“To be able to celebrate 75 years of their work is remarkable and we’re excited to be putting on a unique fundraiser for the occasion.”
Marie Curie Dorset community fundraiser, Kara Frampton, added: “Fundraisers like these enable Marie Curie to deliver our services and continue our vital work to support the terminally ill in the community by providing care, advice, and support.”
The go-karting event will take place at South Coast Karting on July 6, with briefing starting at 6pm and the race kicking off at 7pm.
Races will include teams of four drivers, costing £50 per driver.
The event is taking place at South Coast Karting (BH23 6BL) on July 6th, 6pm start time for briefing and kit, racing starts at 7pm.
