A TELECOMS company has successfully acquired the customer base of another provider – adding nearly 100 new customers.

Bournemouth-based business telephone systems provider 4Com has announced the acquisition of the business telecoms customers of Meridian IT Communications Ltd.

The acquisition, which was completed on May 9, will be 4Com’s fifth deal in the past 12 months and will add another 89 customers to its already 13,000 strong customer base.

This acquisition follows 4Com’s purchases of Midshire Telecom, Eastern Voice and Data, the business telecoms customer base of Bluebell Cloud Solutions and the buyout of Reach Digital Telecoms.

Chief executive officer Gary Scutt said: “We are delighted with our latest customer-base acquisition. As we continue this acquisition journey, we are constantly pursuing new opportunities to further our expansion; the addition of this customer base will complement and further that growth.

“We look forward to bringing our new customers on board and building a strong relationship with them.”

Danny Cox, director at Meridian IT Communications, added: “Although we are proud of our success in the telecommunications market, we have come to the decision to close the business, and selling our customer base was a key part of this process.

“We are very grateful for the integrity and patience 4Com has shown throughout our acquisition discussions. We are excited for the future of our customers who will now be looked after by this well-respected company.”

4Com Technologies was established in 1999 and is based at Lansdowne Plaza in Christchurch Road, Bournemouth.

Dean Cartledge, 4Com’s chief operating officer, said he was “delighted” by the firm’s new acquisition.

“I would like to thank Danny and his team at Meridian IT Communications for their hard work and patience along with our own team here at 4Com, who have all assisted with the smooth transfer of customers,” he said.

“As our core business continues to grow, we are constantly pursuing new acquisition opportunities within the telecoms industry and look forward to our exciting future ahead.”
