A new bus route running between Bournemouth Pier and Hengistbury Head has been launched.
The Bournemouth Coaster route from Transpora is running daily via East Cliff, Boscombe Pier and Southbourne Overcliff.
Charlie Butler, Transpora Group marketing manager said: “We are really excited about running buses along this route to Hengistbury Head.
“We know that buses running to Hengistbury Head have been relaunched in recent years and were proving to be very successful we have now taken up the route and intend to offer a great service to the community.”
Transpora is the trading name of Altonian Coaches Ltd, with a base at Poole Port.
The operator runs 12 school bus services and while it was in its infancy the company purchased two former Yellow Buses vehicles. They are due to be painted, however, because of the history of the coastal route Transport has decided to keep a yellow presence.
The firm is using one of the ex-Yellow Buses vehicles and an open top from Manchester with another open top on the way for the Bournemouth Coaster route.
Simon Newport, group commercial manager, said: “Customers wishing to use the route can board at any stop between Bournemouth Pier and Hengistbury Head. Customers can use the route to visit locations along the route. We offer individual fares for journeys or ‘hop on hop off’ day tickets. Tickets can be purchased from the driver or in advance through the ‘My Trip’ app under the Bournemouth Coaster.
“We offer a Group ticket for up to five people and families travelling together for £12.00 for the day.
“This represents great value and presents the opportunity to visit Boscombe Beach, the SOBO Beach Bar and Hengistbury Head hopping on and off the Coaster.
“Those customers carrying English Concessionary fares cards can also use the service for free."
The first Bournemouth Coaster leaves Boscombe Pier at 9.45am towards Bournemouth, and Bournemouth Pier to Hengistbury Head at 10.15am. The last bus leaves Hengistbury Head at 4.45pm.
