A MURDER investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead at a property in Bournemouth.
Police have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of murder after a 34-year-old woman was found dead at an address in Rosemount Road, Alum Chine on Friday afternoon.
The ambulance service was called to the scene and alerted the police at 12.19pm.
Around eight to 10 police cars descended on the scene along with a team of crime scene investigators.
The woman’s family has been informed and the arrested man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries he had sustained.
Police say the man and woman are known to each other.
Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins, of the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT), said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman at this extremely difficult time.
“A full investigation has been launched and a cordon is in place at the address while an examination of the scene is carried out.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the Rosemount Road area around the relevant time to please come forward.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area while enquiries continue and I would urge anyone with any information or concerns to please speak to officers.”

A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 12.17pm to an incident in the Westbourne area.
“We sent two double-crew land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer and critical care car.
“An individual was conveyed by land ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.”
