AN international society whose members include Ridley Scott and Christopher Nolan are set to host an event in Bournemouth.
The International Moving Image Society (IMIS) will host its first event of 2023 on Thursday, May 18 as a part of the Bournemouth University Festival of Media Production.
The society is sponsoring young British film director Elliot Hasler to present and feature on panels throughout the afternoon.
Elliot is a 23-year-old Brighton-based director, who is set to release his latest feature film, Vindication Swim, this year.
The film tells the story of the first woman to swim the English Channel, Mercedes Gleitze.
Starting at 2pm, attendees will receive a talk from the director, along with clips of the film.
At 3pm, a panel including Elliot and the BBC’s diversity and inclusion lead Dumi Senda will address the topic of ‘sustaining an inclusive media sector’.
Following a reception, the young director will present a talk on the making of Vindication Swim, which was filmed in the English Channel.
BU is an IMIS accredited institution and the event will take place in the Fusion Building.
Admission to the event is free, and tickets can be booked on the Bournemouth University website.
