THOUSANDS of foodies will flock to Christchurch Food Festival this bank holiday weekend.

The three-day extravaganza brings together chefs, local producers, entertainment and, of course, a smorgasbord of tasty treats.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Where is Christchurch Food Festival held?

The event takes place on Christchurch Quay and the Quomps in Christchurch.

The event is free to attend.

Bournemouth Echo:

How popular is it?

If you’re a first-time visitor, Christchurch Food Festival is a very popular event that attracts an estimated 60,000 visitors each year.

What can I find there?

There will be live cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs, interactive workshops, and tastings, to live music performances and children’s activities. There’s also a sheep show.

Organisers have said this year’s event will feature a “great line-up of street food and craft drinks, we will be increasing our focus on produce and ingredients from the South and South West to bring you a truly unique line-up of extraordinary food and drink.”

Bournemouth Echo:

Which chefs can I see?

James Golding and Dhruv Baker are back this year bringing a gang of top chefs to join them on stage for some live cooking.

Last year’s line-up included Mark Hix, Richard Bertinet, Sam & Shauna, Brian Turner, Morgan McGlynn and Perry Wakeman.

Bournemouth Echo:

What entertainment is happening?

There’s a variety of acts on the line-up over the weekend including Twynham School Jazz Band, Bournemouth Musical Theatre (BMT) Productions, Highcliffe Charity Players, Bournemouth and Boscombe Light Opera Company and Big Little Theatre Company.

How can I get there?

Organisers ‘strongly recommend’ visitors leave their car at home or park at a distance where they can, due to the popularity of the event.

A ‘park and stride’ area will be available at Stanpit Recreation Ground.

The Morebus X1 and X2 services will take you directly to Christchurch. Alternatively, you can take the train to Christchurch railway station which is a 10 minute walk from the town centre.

There’s also the option of using a Beryl Bike.

Where are the toilets?

There will be toilets on the Quomps including disabled facilities.

What are the disabled facilities?

There is disabled parking in all the town centre car parks, but organisers say it will be "at a premium" with so many visitors to the festival.

The festival is only situated on Christchurch Quay which is easily accessible. However the Quay is all grassed and organiers say it could be difficult for a wheelchair if the grass is wet.

What have organisers said?

A spokesperson said: “Working with local food groups, Dorset Food and Drink and Hampshire Fare, the Christchurch Food Festival will showcase and celebrate some of the best small food and drink producers from the region as well as street food, local breweries and distilleries, and a host of entertainment.”
