A SPLASH park which has been closed for more than a week during the hot, sunny days will reopen later this week.

The Quomps Splash Park in Christchurch closed on May 24 after a “significant water leak” was discovered at the park.

Workmen have since been working to repair the leak with promises to open it “at the very earliest on Wednesday” made by BCP Council.

But now the council has said the park will fully reopen to the public on the afternoon of Thursday, June 1.

A spokesman for BCP Council said: “Subject to final checks and testing, the Quomps splash park in Christchurch is due to reopen this Thursday afternoon.”

The splash park at Christchurch Quay features play equipment including a paddling pool, boulders and play features and it is aimed at infants and juniors.

Typically open every day during the summer months, BCP Council also owns and operates paddling pools in Hamworthy Park and Redhill Park.
